The River Yeo

As you will see from your KAA club maps: we rent a section of the River Yeo near Blagdon; please consult the relevant one for: location, access and parking. The section is some two miles long, extending over three or so large fields and is quite overgrown in places. Fishing can be by any method, so fly or bait fishing is allowed.

From what I could see, there are both Rainbow and Brown Trout to be caught.

The river has a mainly gravel bed and the water is quite clear. Banks are steep but not high but to get the best from this venue: wading is essential. There are a few deep pools but, unless in flood, the river is not too deep. I would suggest that, if you plan to fly fish: a 7 foot rod equipped with a double taper, floating line and a short leader would be the outfit of choice.

There is a lot of wildlife to see, including deer, kingfishers, rabbits etc. There are a number of photographs that accompany this article, please give this venue a try.

Good luck and tight lines.
