Our History
Established in 1923 anglers in the Knowle Angling Association have fished the river Chew continuously. A major change for the club waters came in 1956 with the opening of Chew valley lake. For many years the club had two sections, one for any method fishing and the other for fly only. A decision was take in 2000 to change to having only one section for all anglers although all of the waters except the lower Chew remain fly only method.
The Foot and Mouth outbreak was the only time during the clubs existence when waters have been closed.
Commitee meetings are often eventful but none more so than when one was abandoned due to an air raid on Bristol during the second world war.
